Medical Biller and Coder/Insurance Specialist - 3 Yrs Exp Reqd
Position Responsibilities

• Evaluate policies to determine eligibility for surgery
• Ensure policy benefits are paid accurately
• Verify benefits and obtain authorization
• Request additional information when required
• Post charges and submit claims
• Follow up on claim status and payment
• Credential new facilities
• Apply appropriate denial codes if no benefits are payable
• Independent worker
• Interface with outside clients or other departments within the organization
• Assists with special projects

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience
• Strong medical billing A/R follow up
• Experience with UB-04 billing
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
• Understanding of medical terminology, medical billing practices and billing reimbursement is essential. (Ophthalmology preferred)
• Familiar with billing guidelines and regulations in various states; across government and non-government insurance carriers
• Strong computer and typing skills
• Utilization of electronic medical records systems
• Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
• Business letter writing and report preparation techniques and methods
• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation

Experience:

• Medical billing experience (At least 3 years required, Ophthalmology preferred)
• Certified Coding Specialists preferred
• Knowledge and experience with billing operations, including: ICD-10 and CPT coding, claims submission, charges and payment posting
• Ability to navigate EMR
• Strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines
• Excellent customer service and proper phone etiquette
• Positive attitude

License or Certificate:

Possession or the ability to obtain one or more of the following (preferred, but not required):

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
• Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)
• Certified Coding Specialist – Physician based (CCS-P)
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
