Description
- This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. There is room for growth and added responsibilities for the right candidate.
- Competitive pay will vary based on training and experience and is paid as an independent contractor.
- Preferred 1-3 years of experience as a Biller/Coder, preferably in mental health.
- Will consider new grads with right attitude!

- Insurance verification - benefits and eligibility
- Reviewing patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtaining any missing information
- Preparing, evaluating and transmitting claims via electronic and paper claim processing
- Investigate unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
- Reviewing each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
- Manage patient accounts
- Discuss insurance billing/insurance questions with clients
- Appeal medical insurance claims in a timely manner
- Manage receivables, accounts payable, payroll and maintain financial records
- Ensure compliance with procedures
- Keep up-to-date with changes in medical and insurance legislation
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Maintains detailed knowledge of insurance denials and trends in the industry
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management, electronic health record and other computer software as it relates to job functions
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of behavioral health billing preferred, but willing to train the right candidate!
- Mental Health EHR system experience preferred, If you have experience with Kareo, that's a plus!
- Knowledge of modifiers
- Proven work experience as a Biller/Coder, new grads will also be considered if shown willingness to learn!
- Hands-on experience with medical software and MS Office
- Familiarity with mental health guidelines and insurance legislation is a plus!
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Customer-oriented communication skills
Salary
$15 - $18 per hour
