Required Experience:
2+ years engineering design with field experience
Candidate Qualifications:
- CAD and REVIT literate
- Familiarity with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP or similar HVAC load calculation software
- Minimum 2 years of experience in designing HVAC systems for residential, commercial, retail, or institutional projects including: Load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork/piping sizing and distribution, drawing and detail development, controls strategy, etc
- Experience with geothermal system design is desirable
- Excellent spoken and written English skills
- BSME required with a desire to obtain EIT and PE
- Must be familiar with standard international code versions for review and interpretation Specific NYC Code experience a plus
- Self-motivated with an appetite for further education and personal growth
- Passion for elegance in system design
- Experience with commissioning a plus
- Candidate must be comfortable interacting with architects, contractors, and other project consultants both in person and via remote means
- An ideal candidate will be ready to be an integral design member from project inception through complete construction and close-out
Job Responsibilities:
- Design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection sprinkler systems (though experience with HVAC as a baseline is a must)
- Site survey of existing conditions at each project onset
- Design air conditioning, heating, ventilation, humidification, dehumidification, boiler, chiller, VRF, domestic plumbing systems (water and waste), and fire protection sprinkler systems
- Prepare calculations, design documentation, drawing layouts, riser diagrams, equipment selections, specifications, and details
- Coordinate with architects and peripheral consultants to integrate all system designs. Prepare reports that might detail:
Evaluation of alternative systems
Evaluation of existing conditions
Construction progress - Review of shop drawings and submittals against design intent
- Inspect installed conditions against design requirements
- Position requires approximately 15-20% field time
