The Groton Facilities Engineering department is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to provide maintenance and troubleshooting support for the 100+ year old Groton shipyard, new facilities, local sites, as well as designing and executing infrastructure construction projects.
Responsibilities for project management include engineering and developing the scope of work, preparing bid documents, vendor selection, securing funding, preparing purchase requisitions, in field project management of vendors and EB personnel while maintaining the project budget, schedule and project documentation.
The types of systems/equipment the candidate will be involved in are: water systems (fire protection, potable, sewage), compressed gas systems (nitrogen, argon, oxygen, propane), compressed air systems (high pressure air, low pressure air), boiler and steam systems, HVAC, industrial ventilation, submarine support system (land based steaming, salt water cooling), waste water treatment plant and water purification plant.
Candidate will interface with local city building officials as well as Naval oversight. Candidate must be self-motivating, be able to work independently, possess good written and oral communications skills, maintain a questioning attitude, as well as be proficient technically with a willingness to continuously learn.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Facilities Engineering
- 2+ years of engineering experience
- Experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering or construction
