Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) engineering module seeking a highly motivated Mechanical or Systems Engineer for their Lubrication and Thermal Management Systems discipline. This position will be included in MSEN’s Engineering Development Program (EDP), which is a multiyear program for new college hires that has been implemented to give new college hires a breadth of experience across multiple disciplines. The EDP begins with one 12-month rotation in the Lubrication and Thermal Management Systems discipline followed by two 8-month rotations in other disciplines. Possibilities include Design, Structures, Aero/Thermo, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific Lubrication and Thermal Management Systems responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to root cause investigations and troubleshooting for in-service and development engine programs by processing full flight "big data" and executing lubrication and thermal management system models.
  • Specifying engine validation test plans, interpreting test data, and calibrating models based on results
  • Developing system models for new engine programs
  • Specification of performance requirements for system components and requirements for controls logic
  • Summarizing system status to requirements during presentations at design reviews

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics
  • Experience in system-level analysis tools desirable (e.g., Dymola, MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB or other coding languages

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
