Form of workQuantum Circuits, Inc. (QCI) is developing a full-stack quantum computing platform based on superconducting devices and a modular, robust and scalable architecture. QCI was founded by three world-leading experts in quantum devices and information processing from the Department of Applied Physics at Yale University: Michel Devoret, Luigi Frunzio, and Robert Schoelkopf. Their group has produced many scientific firsts, including the development of a "quantum bus" for entangling qubits with wires and the first implementation of a quantum algorithms and error-correction with a solid-state device. QCI's mission is to build the first truly useful quantum computers, and usher in a new age of quantum information - be part of it.
As a QCI Mechanical Engineer, these are the kind of projects you'd be working on:
- Development of hardware for cryogenic applications, with a focus on components and assemblies that operate in the microwave frequency domain
- Development of the next generation of quantum device packaging and assembly hardware
- Design of scalable manufacturing and procurement processes for special-purpose hardware
- Management of libraries of 3D model designs and technical drawings
What we're looking for from you:
- Extensive experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- Extensive experience with machining, sheet-metal work and related manufacturing processes
- Overseeing a portfolio of engineering projects from design and testing to deployment
- Experience with cryogenic hardware design and low-temperature physics preferred
- Degrees in Mechanical Engineering, physics, or applied physics preferred
- A background in quantum physics, quantum information, or quantum computing is preferred
- Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with professionals from other fields of physics and engineering
