Job Summary:
Spectrum Associates, Inc. is growing its Engineering team to support increased long-term opportunities in domestic and foreign aerospace markets. Spectrum designs, builds, and qualifies pressure switches, various fuel system valves, and crashworthy fuel breakaway valves, build-to-print and proprietary-design hydraulic components and sub-assemblies for military and commercial fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Spectrum is actively expanding its portfolio of products and capabilities serving legacy and new aircraft. The candidate must possess strong electro-mechanical skills.

The candidate Mechanical Designer will:
• Use 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor design software to develop new designs and support legacy configurations.
• Have Inventor Vault working knowledge.
• Create 2D detail part drawings and assembly drawings for internal tooling and test equipment and for-flight products.
• Support Laboratory activity involving field failure analysis and qualification activities.
• Write qualification test plans and test reports.
• Write manufacturing process documents and develop bench assembly and test tooling.
• Perform Manufacturing Engineering tasks/ troubleshooting.
• Support Quality Clinic activity as required to improve efficiency and reduce scrap/ waste.
• Support Relentless Root Cause Analysis (RRCA), Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), & Support Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
Daily activities can include:
• Creating design packages.
• Troubleshooting any Production Issues.
• Working with Lab personnel to develop new products.
• Support Manufacturing Engineering tasks.
• Support 3D Printing.
Evaluation of performance will be based on ability to work in a team environment, solve problems, and identify/ reduce design risks.
Candidate should: possess a positive attitude, be able to work in a small effective team environment, be mechanically inclined, be curious, be a “possibility thinker”, and enjoy problem solving. Basic machining experience a plus.
Technical degree or equivalent minimum of 5 years work experience in product design and development. Proficient with Drafting practices and knowledge of GD&T.
