TITLE:
MATH SPECIALIST - 210 Day Contract
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Position is responsible for supporting the school division's math initiatives by working with the Director of Secondary Instruction, School Administrators and staff as a teacher-leader.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a valid Virginia Teachers License
- Master's Degree in mathematics preferred
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of instructional best practices
- Must possess excellent organization and communication skills
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers and administrators
REPORTS TO: Director of Secondary Instruction
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate a deep knowledge and mastery of division programs, professional trends, and emergent methodical instructional programming and/or curriculum.
- Meet regularly with grade groups, teams, and the division data team.
- Provide curriculum support and training for all teachers and continuous staff development that supports school division initiatives.
- Model and coach instructional methods in a variety of settings (whole group and small group) and provide follow-up support.
- Collaborate with and coach teachers on the use of assessment data to plan instruction; analyze school math data and plan for future math needs.
- Provide ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools and instructional methodology as they relate to the division's math curriculum and the Virginia Standards of Learning.
- Assist in the selection of instructional materials to meet student needs.
- Participate in collaborative instructional planning.
- Conduct classroom visitations and provides collaborative feedback to teachers and administrators on the school's math program.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and the Director of Secondary Instruction by attending meetings and disseminating information.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of instructional materials and resources.
- Remain grounded in content standards and objectives in order to facilitate integrated and concept based instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
210 day contract, exempt FLSA status.
EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations and evaluation of school personnel.
Salary to be established by the School Board annually.
