Elementary Math Specialist
Job Summary
The position is responsible for coordinating, supporting, and implementing a strong mathematics instructional program at six elementary schools.
Essential Duties

• Assists in developing, implementing, and assessing the district's Elementary Math curriculum as aligned with the Virginia Department of Education Standards of Learning.

• Supports teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing quality mathematics instruction.
• Implements coaching cycles to develop teachers' capacity in best practices for math instruction.
• Assists administrators in conducting learning walks to provide feedback to teachers to improve mathematics instruction at the school and use data to plan for ongoing monitoring and support.
• Collects and facilitates the review and use of school and division data to guide instruction.
• Provides individual and/or small group instruction to meet the needs of students as applicable.
• Assists with screening, evaluating, and recommending interventions for struggling students.
• Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested.
• Participates in developing, revising, and monitoring the implementation of the curriculum.
• Participates in the construction and selection of mathematics instructional materials and assessments.
• Provides professional development to staff and support staff.
• Provides modeling and assists with planning.
• Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
• Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications

1. Possesses or qualifies for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education.
2. Possesses an endorsement as a Math Specialist.
3. Has at least five years of teaching experience.

2. Demonstrates the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, parents, and members of the school community.

1. Demonstrates the ability to analyze various types of student data.

SALARY BASED ON THE 2024-2025 TEACHERS' SALARY SCALE - 200 DAYS CONTRACT
