Job Summary:

  • Develop and manage marketing projects and initiatives that increase sales to, and retention of, profitable customers or enhance relationships with The Standard's channel partners.
  • Manage the planning and execution of marketing initiatives in the Retirement Plan or Individual Annuities space, which may include a variety of marketing communications and promotional activities.
  • Manage cross functional teams and/or in execution of projects and initiatives.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with division partners, stakeholders and marketing colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain regular communications with division partners.
  • Plan and execute effective marketing projects and initiatives that support marketing and business unit objectives.
  • Define requirements for projects and track metrics of success. Measure and optimize associated initiatives on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide project management and cross-functional team leadership for execution of assigned marketing projects/initiatives in the Retirement &/or Investment space.
  • Define scope and objectives, secure commitment of resources, assign and monitor tasks, review copy and design development, obtain approval from division partners, and archive.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop marketing plans within Retirement Plan &/or Individual Annuities areas to align with business unit objectives including but not limited to marketing campaigns including product and service launches, awareness activities, internal and external content development and other promotions.
Business Partnership:
  • Develop relationships company-wide to provide or obtain information. May consult with management.
  • Develop strong day-to-day working relationships with BU leaders, market liaisons or embedded marketers.
  • Through a consultative approach, listen to and address BU needs.
  • Create and socialize meeting overviews, monthly reports that clearly communicate the goals, status, results, and next steps.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders and division partners to reach consensus on concepts and execution of projects/initiatives; maintain effective working relationships with BU partners and co-workers.
  • Share work and results with division partners, stakeholders, and internal team members.

Project Management:
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to establish an integrated marketing mix and facilitate plan execution.
  • Meet and manage tight deadlines to address the urgency of BU requests.
  • Make recommendations for new processes or procedures.

Marketing Strategy:
  • Create first draft of Marketing Strategy. Pull together cross-functional team to ideate and assess ideas and initiatives against strategy.
  • Work on problems of complex scope. Exercise judgment and discretion and proactively analyzes and evaluates existing programs. Provide in-depth analysis and solutions for complex issues. Assist with making decisions on recommendations for new processes or procedure.

Job Specifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, marketing, English or related field.
Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in marketing activities with a marketing organization or advertising agency focused in the Retirement Plan or Individual Annuities space. Two years project or client service management.
  • Has a wide range of experience as a skilled specialist of professional field. Requires thorough knowledge of business practices.
  • Strategic and resourceful.
  • Demonstrated advanced marketing communications skills; proven ability to readily grasp, organize and present complex concepts and products to internal and external audiences in clear, accurate and persuasive terms; experienced in developing professional marketing programs and communications.
  • Experienced in developing and executing effective marketing and communication programs, including newsletters, digital assets, other promotional activities, content marketing, social media marketing and advertising.
  • Ability to conceive and pitch marketing ideas; rapidly learn details of new products, services, and business ventures; comprehend legal concerns and effectively balance these with business objectives.
  • Typically plans and schedules own work and requires limited direction. Capable of seeing the "big picture" and the downstream impacts of their work. Results are normally shared with team.
  • Contacts are company-wide and external to provide or obtain information. May consult with senior management. Networks with internal and external key contacts. Able to influence decisions.
  • Typically receives little instruction on daily work. May require general instructions on new assignments.
  • Networks with internal and external peers. Able to influence decisions. Effective team player.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Introductory market, customer, and business analysis skills

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:
$71,000.00 - $104,000.00
