The Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) consists of a worldwide team helping to power the global energy industry as well as provide power and propulsion on the water.
About the role:
The Cat Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Marine Supply Assurance Technician. The Marine Supply Assurance Technician enables efficient and effective communications between dealers, the marine commercial team, and Caterpillar factory teams. Specifically, communication between these parties focuses on product deliveries, scheduling, priority, and other customer or business requirements.
What you will be doing:
- Keeping marine leadership informed on relevant demand and supply issues to enable them to make business critical decisions
- Supporting weekly marine governance meetings such as the order board review and demand and supply meeting via content preparation and presenting
- Managing marine availability job aid for marine territorial sales managers to use with dealers
- Maintaining marine priority (Hot) list to manage with the factory and communicate status to dealers and commercial team
- Managing team Power BI for monitoring team metrics and driving efficiency in weekly governance
What you will have:
Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Explains the rationale for using BPI methodology.
- Identifies the main steps in a BPI project such as defining the existing structure.
- States the major roles involved in business process management.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Monitors progress of work against plan as required to meet objectives.
- Reports variances and makes agreed-upon corrections.
- Under guidance, develops tactical plan for own direct responsibility.
Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Seeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances.
- Identifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research.
- Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.
- Approaches a complex problem by breaking it down into its component parts.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.
- Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
- Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.
- Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
- Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.
