The general salary range for this position is $84,000-$101,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Manager, International Accounts Payable for the Accounting Department. In this position you will be responsible for the Humane Society International (HSI) disbursement processes and procedures and month end close activities for the Accounts Payable Team.
You will be responsible for:
- Examining and verifying the accuracy of transactions performed by the International AP staff. This includes reviewing and posting International AP transactions to the General Ledger.
Initiating and maintaining monthly recurring payments
- Reconciling and maintaining the A/P sub-ledger to the G/L, maintaining the Accrued A/P, Prepaid, Rent schedules for all entities and ensuring they are reconciled to the G/L. Preparing journal entries to reclass A/P transactions as needed. Recording CAPS activities monthly on the G/L and collaborating with Purchasers and Budget Managers for monthly/quarterly reallocations and resolutions for any outstanding reconciliation transactions;
- Supervising and training of two Accounts Payable staff who manage day-to-day invoice processing;
- Ensuring the clearing all bank reconciliation items on the multiple domestic and international bank accounts for HSI;
- Reviewing quarterly vendor records to review and manage all new/updated vendor class IDs to ensure appropriate tax classification for year-end 1099 tax filings and any international requirements. Guiding and supporting the international Accounts Payable staff on vendor maintenance and accurate tax classifications. Managing the year-end tax filing process for all payments within a fiscal/calendar year;
- Participating in the initiations and evaluation of international Accounts Payable related process and system improvements. Collaborating with software providers and system consultants on change management, technical support;
- Developing and maintaining analytical reports, dashboards and spreadsheets which are utilized for ongoing processes using Power BI and MS Access. Training accounting teammates as necessary;
- Providing audit support across multiple entities annually;
- Preparing monthly reconciliation and analysis required on the above;
- Answering both external and internal inquiries regarding the above duties:
- Performing other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent work experience required;
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in an accounting environment required;
- Knowledge of Sage-Intacct software is desirable;
- Knowledge of financial reconciliation and analysis;
- Must be knowledgeable of current banking systems in the U.S. and abroad, preferably, Canada, Mexico, India, Costa Rica, Liberia, United Kingdom and Belgium;
- Must be able to maintain payment confidentiality;
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
- Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments;
- Ability to exercise sound judgment;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a team environment;
- Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
