Position Summary

Leveraging a robust knowledge of and experience in finance, accounting, and budgeting, the Deputy Vice President (VP) of Finance and Administration will lead ICFJ’s efforts to maintain strong, accurate financial records, and establish structured, efficient systems for non-profit financial and regulatory compliance. The Deputy VP of Finance and Administration will report to the President, and manage a team including the Director of Finance and Accounting, and the Budget and Compliance Officer, in a diverse and fast-paced environment with a wide global reach. The successful candidate will possess superior organizational abilities to adeptly handle multiple and complex layers of financial information. They will bring well-honed verbal and written communication skills, and experience building and leading a high-functioning team in a non-profit environment. The Deputy VP of Finance and Administration serves as a key liaison to the senior management team and contributes to the development of ICFJ’s financial and strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Transform and lead the finance team, elevating performance standards and implementing robust processes where none currently exist. This includes the potential for restructuring the team to ensure optimal performance.
  • Negotiate and oversee the organization's Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) to optimize funding allocations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and manage the organizational budget, monitor financial performance, and adjust forecasts to ensure sustainability and strategic alignment.
  • Streamline financial operations and investment activities, including statement reconciliation, fund draws, and coordination with brokers and stakeholders.
  • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, oversee all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting.
  • Analyze the organization’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Coordinate and/or prepare tax schedules, returns and information.
  • Manage relationships with insurance providers, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements compliance.
  • Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure the availability of funds as needed.
  • Other Finance and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent experience in finance/accounting
  • 5-7 years of Finance and budget management experience
  • CPA and/or CMA
  • Experience with U.S. Federal grants
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time
