Job Description:
  • We are seeking a hands-on Manager, Datacenter IT Operations to join our IT infrastructure organization.
  • Reporting to Director IT Operations, The Datacenter manager will be a hands-on manager, leading Network Operations (NOC) and Infrastructure Change management teams.
  • This manager will have significant involvement with establishing monitoring, change management processes, incident management, crisis management, KPI reporting, executive companywide communications while maintaining strong partnerships with
  • other internal engineering support and product teams.
  • As a hands-on technical leader you can coach, motivate and lead the team, while being capable of contributing technically and challenging decisions.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Working in conjunction with Director Network Telecom Director Systems, Compute and Storage, provide strategic goals and initiatives for developing and building a resilient Incident and Event Management – Network Datacenter Operations including reporting and dashboards, KPI Metrics.
  • The Datacenter Operations manager will take proactive measures to guarantee an effective, reliable, and secure working environment for a 24x7 critical infrastructure for all company datacenters.
  • Manage the relationship and deliverables by providing day to day Network Operations including reporting on KPI’s.
  • The Datacenter manager will oversee a NOC provider responsible for 24x7x365 systems monitoring, preemptive intelligence gathering, analysis, and incident response coordination for over 200+ distribution and market centers spread out in North America.
  • Responsible for leadership management of a team with approximately 5 to 10 FTE employees performing duties including but not limited to executing on hiring and termination activities, setting goals, evaluating performance, providing mentoring and coaching, and approving vacation and expense reimbursement requests.
  • This role would also oversee outsourced key services and consultants onshore
  • and offshore.
  • Responsible for assisting in the development annual testing of disaster recovery plans, ensuring that they are in accordance with corporate business continuity plans for all company datacenters.
  • Understanding and assistance with ISO audits and certifications such as: Environmental and Health and Safety Management (ISO 14001, 45001, 50001), Information and security (ISO 27001, 27017, 27018) Quality and organization control (ISO9001, 3402) SOC2 data privacy
  • Establish and maintain relationships with telecommunication vendors and service providers.
  • Collaborate with vendors to procure necessary equipment, negotiate. Contracts, and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to develop long-term strategies for datacenter operations, enterprise infrastructure, including capacity planning, technology upgrades (server network, etc.) and system enhancements.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity for all VOIP based technologies.
  • Assist in Overseeing appropriate vendor relationships related to associated technologies, services, and solutions needed to operate enterprise functions.
  • Ensuring accurate and efficient governance policy development and adherence
  • Report on KPIs and status reports as requested by senior IT leadership.
  • Submit all time and expense reporting procedures accurately and timely.
  • Maintain good standing and completion on all compliance related matters (i.e., assigned mandatory trainings, actions required from audits, corporate policies, etc.)
  • Perform all additional duties and responsibilities based on the direction and guidance of supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and experience in datacenter operations, cabling, electrical and mechanical support systems to include power distribution systems, emergency power, UPS systems, D/C power, HVAC, and fire alarm and suppression systems.
  • Ensure data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies, and improving overall efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Responsibilities will include ensuring that operational, maintenance and emergency Methods of Procedures (MOP’s) are developed, reviewed and audited through all stages of the maintenance process for electrical, mechanical, communications, safety, and security support equipment.
  • Ability to Create detailed work plans which identify and sequence the activities and deliverables needed to successfully complete cutover/migration/upgrade/implementations.
  • Adhere to firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and familiarity with ITIL or other formalized IT operations foundations.
  • Skilled and proficient in MS Office O365 suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Communications Tools, etc.)
  • Ability to operate with a customer-centric service approach.
  • Ability to establish performance-based relationships with 3rd party vendors and technology providers and versed in setting standards and measurements for IT processes.
  • Ability to effectively define a business case, determine return on investment, and measure achievement of the case over time.
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple concurrent deliverables at various stages of development and completion.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills with the ability to create consensus around decisions and mitigate conflicts among teams.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Professional level verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and quality of work products and communications.
  • Willingness to seek out and implement coaching, suggestions, and guidance from others.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements:
  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology platforms and services.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering successful outcomes working in matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting priorities and performance management measures.
  • Experience working in a highly virtualized environment including technical familiarity with Oracle, Linux, Windows, Networking and Storage.
  • AWS knowledge is a plus.
  • Have at least 5+ years operational management experience supporting multiple revenue generating critical applications in a enterprise datacenter environment.
  • Monitoring environments preferably for a publicly traded firm.
  • Able to engage with internal customers and stakeholders without direction.
  • Must have appropriate skills with the standard business software utilized to perform their daily duties, e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
  • Experience working with Salesforce, Nagios, Splunk, Logic monitor, SolarWinds, SCOM or like applications.
  • Must be comfortable creating formal reports and presentations to management using PowerPoint.
  • Excellent partnering, communication, and negotiation skills to effectively manage relationships between business customers and technology development and support groups.
  • Ability to coach and manage the technical development of team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Expert Knowledge of IT operation processes including release management, change management, configuration management, incident management and event management.

Experience/Qualifications:
  • 5-7+ years of experience working in an enterprise Datacenter operations environment with multiple colo datacenters spread out nationwide as a Datacenter Manager or IT Operations manager.
  • 3-5 years’ experience leading a team as a Team lead or Manager role in an enterprise datacenter operations environment supporting a publicly traded organization with 10,000+ users.
  • Demonstrated experience with the planning, delivery and management of Enterprise datacenter operations and System Administration in large enterprise environments with over 10,000+ users in a publicly traded organization.
  • Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP), Certified Data Centre Audit Professional (CDCAP) preferred.
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification preferred.
  • ANSI/TIA-942 Design Certification, ANSI/TIA-942 Facilities Certification
  • Experience with the use of Project Management methodologies and tools
  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Be legally able to work in the United States: U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident
