Job Summary
ABoiler Operator operates and maintains multiple boilers and associatedequipment within the Trane La Crosse Campus. It is a skilled position, whichinvolves operating and maintaining the steam plants on campus, to includemultiple steam traps and condensate stations that are scattered across campus.Diagnosis and repair of components, adjusting water chemicals to maintain therequired water chemistry, and repairs to the boiler controls are all requiredskills.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and pass all requiredtraining and classes.
- Available to work holidays anddays off when required.
- Must be able to tolerate andwork in temperature extremes.
- Must be trained for confinedspace entry, man lifts and various PIVS
- Test boiler water and balancesystem with chemicals.
- Must record water and chemicaltests in logs, manual and electronic.
- Good decision-making skills arerequired.
- Must meet all regulatorytraining, qualification, and certification requirements.
- Required to lift up to 50pounds.
- Must be willing and able to switch shifts based on season/boilerusage. WE-1 summer/WE-2 winter
- Self-motived, able to work with limited supervision.
- Receives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead.
- Must follow standard work, complete production and maintenance recordsand other documentation related to operations.
- Participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the above duties with no additionaltraining required.
- Must meet and maintain all safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse group of salaried andhourly employees as well as external auditors and contractors.
- Demonstrated reliability
- Subjectto completion of company-approved aptitude testing
- HighSchool diploma or GED required
- Boiler operator's license orassociates degree in HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical or Electro-mechanicaltechnologies at a minimum. Boiler Roomexperience is a plus
- Computer skills. Must bewilling to learn multiple Boiler /Building software programs i.e. Chemtex
- Manualdexterity
