Job Summary
Maintenance Technician is responsible for a safe work environment while performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production and/or midstream surface equipment under minimal supervision. Technician ensures that equipment is operated and maintained in compliance with all company policies, procedures and applicable local, state and federal rules and regulations, including but not limited to Process Safety Management, DOT and OSHA regulations. This position requires the ability to understand normal and proper operating conditions of related surface equipment, identify abnormal conditions, troubleshoot issues and make associated repairs. This employee is expected to bring a high level of expertise to the role with a focus on safety. Position is to provide a reasonable response time to support operational challenges.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Ensure all activities are performed safely, within relevant regulatory and company requirements. Be able to plan and conduct assignments of a complex nature. Identify, report and take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions.
- Carry out planned and corrective maintenance activities on surface equipment as needed and/or scheduled.
- Maintain the reliability, availability, and operational condition of surface equipment so that operational targets can be achieved. Minimize equipment downtime and impacts to operations to enhance reliability and performance.
- Minimize impacts to the operational process during equipment maintenance; safeguard the availability & operating condition of all equipment so that production targets can be achieved.
- Troubleshoot problems and determine causes of defective performance and report findings to supervisor. Repairs where appropriate, informs supervisor of repairs requiring a higher level of expertise.
- Assist with projects and job scope preparation as requested, such as new equipment commissioning, capital maintenance projects, equipment retrofits, reliability and efficiency upgrades.
- Maintain records of repairs, calibrations and tests by entering data into handwritten logs or computer databases, where applicable, in a timely manner. This includes safety & regulatory requirements.
- Advise and assist in training other personnel, proactively sharing technical knowledge.
- Ensure the use of GME’s policies, procedures, and processes when applicable. These include, but are not limited to: Permit to work, Safe Job Analysis, Lockout/Tag Out, confined space entry, etc. If qualified, approve work permits according to permit-to-work procedures.
- Lead and live corporate founding principles.
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by department leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
- Oil and gas industry knowledge required
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required
- Must have proven mechanical aptitude an possess troubleshooting skills
- Proficient using a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Ability to work safely around various types of equipment
- Available and willing to work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- OQ trained if working on oil facilities
- Experience setting, trouble shooting and inspecting pumping units a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of Technical school training program or one year of oil and gas experience is required
