Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent in this full-time role, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders and Contractors. Higher consideration will be granted to those who have previous experience in the wood remanufacturing sector in a Sawmill, Planer Mill or with forest products.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety;
- Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met;
- Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop, and educate key metrics.
- Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes;
- Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions;
- Managing conflicts
- Supervising Weekend Maintenance and Cleanup personnel
- Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems)
- Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, Field Level Hazard & Risk Assessments (FLHRA), Safety Audits)
- Training / mentoring apprentices
- Creating and planning improvement projects
- Managing parts with our purchaser
- Scheduling and attendance
- Will include periodic weekend coverage
- Inspecting completed work

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Prior Journeyman Electrician or Mill wright
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Well organized
- Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
- Leadership and communication skills
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background
