Quality Control Inspector Position Purpose
Responsible for ensuring that repairs done by the Service Department are of excellent quality and to reduce the unrecoverable rental damage expense.
Quality Control Inspector Essential Functions
- Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
- Inspects incoming rental machines to determine the extent of repairs that are needed
- Inspects machines after repairs to ensure a quality repair has been completed
- Inspects incoming rental machines for needed repairs and damages. Fills out inspection forms and take photographs as needed
- Informs Product Service Managers (PSM) of work needed on incoming rental machines
- Inspects damages, and determines the cause
- Starts quote process for parts required; ensures all labor quotes provided by PSM to Rentals in 24 hours and then the Rental quote to customer within 48 hours
- Confirms work needed matches existing quote. If there is no quote, makes inspection and starts quote process. QCI to quote parts only. All customer labor that is quoted will be provided by PSM
- Coordinates with Rentals Coordinator and Yard Technician on equipment tags and location in yard
- Assists and advises the Detail Technician on cleanliness of rental and customer units when received and prior to shipment
- Checks all units for repair completion, cleanliness, correct usage of rental ready tags
- Follows all company safety policies and procedures
- Consistent and reliable on-site attendance
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Quality Control Inspector Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Five (5) years experience as a heavy equipment technician.
- Ability to perform diagnostics (hydraulic and electrical)
- Experience and ability to perform tests on construction and mining equipment
Quality Control Inspector Physical Qualifications
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
- Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold or wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors associated with the shop
- Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours of time with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition
