Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and major repairs and maintenance, troubleshooting activities and preventative maintenance to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment including batch plant, conveyors, form equipment, pipe manufacturing and de-molding machinery and all power units and controls associated this heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Lead, plan, and schedule your team’s daily functions. Ensure that tasks are completed safely, timely, and properly the first time. Be aware of the monthly R&M budget and maintenance cost.
- Must be able to read schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and solve electronic or mechanical issues. Will need to communicate effectively with manufacturing equipment technical support via phone and e-mail.
- Monitor all areas for compliance with company safety and state environmental regulations. Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Set up equipment for scheduled production. Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform machinist duties and responsibilities. Must be able to learn and understand operation of manufacturing equipment to include settings.
- Must have maintenance skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations and defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience; strong electronics, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, welding, and industrial skills with some PLC experience a plus.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be organized and be able to train and motivate other maintenance team members.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, welders, ladders, man-lift equipment to perform duties.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Applicable vocational, community college or college technical degree in industrial/mechanical/electrical machinery power and controls, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience required.
- AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus.
Residency Requirement(s):
- Must reside in the continental U.S. (Jessup, MD area). No relocation assistance is provided.
- Must have a valid driving license.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all of the following: Standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Working in a maintenance and production environment, with ambient air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Dirty and dusty conditions at times, which may require respirator protection. Controlled Confined Space work and working with chemicals. Facility manager maintains complete list of SDS’s on site at all times.
Typical Hours/Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday – Friday, 40+ hours per week depending on workload and production demand.
