The Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) Manager is foremost a leader and responsible for making decisions regarding the proper functioning of all production equipment, services, facility equipment, and infrastructure. The role manages all Maintenance and Engineering policies in the department. This includes the creation and execution of preventative and predictive programs, equipment monitoring and repairs, as well as the definition of the process and equipment for production. The M&E Manager develops and helps implement projects to improve safety, quality and increase capacity; study existing and new processes; coordinates the upgrades and new technology to be added to the site to keep high efficiency & performance in the production processes. Also, the M&E Manager drives the Continuous Improvement effort in the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining and adhering to Safety & Health standards, actively participating in employee safety training, hazard prevention and control, worksite analysis, and exercising management leadership
- Comply with all safety procedures and requirements including cGMP/Quality
- Manage all aspects of the site maintenance department including fixed cost control and capex spend
- Work with maintenance Team to distribute and balance workload of both planned and trouble call work
- Provide technical leadership for employees in implementing long term solutions to recurrent problems beyond their day-to-day work to reduce downtime or costs in the process units
- Schedule, coordinate, train, and lead hourly employees and outside contractors
- Ensure direct reports document daily work accomplished for entry into the maintenance management software
- Create and maintain the information required for plant assets to facilitate the maintenance support of these assets
- Communicate with vendors on quotes, orders, and part identification
- Implement improvement projects (scope, cost estimation, request capital money, supervision of fieldwork, commissioning)
- Provide technical support in conceptualization of capital projects, troubleshooting, training, manages process changes (MOC) and implementation of the specified solutions. Maintain the documentation of procedures associated with the manufacture of North Salt Lake products.
- Provide technical input to the business, manufacturing, Research &Development, and marketing organizations in support of process improvement efforts, Research & Development programs, capital plans, and business plans. Consolidate company intelligence on competitor technology.
- Develop and/or assist others in developing workable process solutions to meet the requirements of the business
- Investigate, research, assess, evaluate, and/or propose ideas processes and products
Required Education and Experience
- 4- year Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering degree
- 5 or more years of Maintenance Supervisory/Management experience
- 5 or more years of Engineering Supervisory/Management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial maintenance techniques (PM, CMMS, RCM, TPM)
- Understanding of good engineering and safety practices
- Experience in CAPEX
- Experience with process control systems, control I/O and PLC programming is a plus

- Knowledge of mechanical conveying equipment (screw, drag, & belt conveyor, bucket elevators, dust collectors, rotary valves, centrifugal pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, mills, centrifuges, rotary dryers, and tanks)
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, climbing (ladder/stairs), temperature changes, and plant field visits
- Occasional lifting (Avg 20 lbs-Max 70 lbs), squatting, operating mobile equipment (Cushman/Pick up truck), and office work
