Position Summary
This Mail Clerk position is assigned primary responsibility of sorting incoming and outgoing mail each day. This position also delivers mail to the appropriate departments and/or sort mail to the prospective outside location or company in addition to assisting with expresses and tracking packages as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and work as necessary to function effectively in a mail center environment including but not limited to walking long distances, climbing stairs, pushing mail cart, and lift up to 20 pounds/stacking boxes. Will walk 80% of the day.
- Must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to effectively communicate with others.
- Must be able to perform in a stressful environment.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must successfully pass the Company background investigation.
- Must possess daily transportation to and from work.
- Must possess basic computer skills including word processing, new track pad system and future software updates, and e-mail system.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and communicate, orally and in writing, or possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must possess general knowledge of postal procedures, regulations and equipment.
- Must be able to pick-up and deliver incoming and outgoing mail multiple times a day.
- Must be able to sort mail to appropriate departments or locations.
- Must be able to assist with expresses and tracking packages as needed.
- Cover other Facilities as needed.
- If Required must be able to train future Mail Clerks.
- May be required to provide coverage as needed in other areas of mail center, including but not limited to answering phones and taking messenger requests.
- May be required to assist in processing express invoices.
- Will be required to participate in the performance management process/creating goals for you to complete yearly.
- Must possess general knowledge of postal procedures, regulations and equipment.
- Must be able to learn, comprehend and apply ADM programs such as NLGO and GLGO.
- Must be able to read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing, at the 12th grade level, or possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of honesty and integrity.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of reliability with respect to work attendance as well as completing assigned projects as directed.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of timeliness with respect to presence at work, assignments and meetings as well as with respect to the on-time completion of assigned projects.
- Must demonstrate a clear commitment to safety.
- Must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude.
This role is permanent role at $15/hour and full benefits upon first day on employment.
