We're looking for a Mail Operations Clerk / Machine Operator responsible for sorting and distributing incoming mail, preparing outbound mail for delivery, operating printers and mailroom machinery, stocking supplies, and driving our company vans.
Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. This role reports to the office five days per week. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package.
Responsibilities: Operates Postal Source mailing machines for posting metered mail, along with shipping packages via UPS or FedEx. Prepares envelopes and mailings for the Commission Compensation department twice per month, as well as general mailings to the field sales force twice per week. Sorts mail for the field sales force, distribution centers, and internal departments.
Sorts incoming mail received from internal departments, Lawson's PO Box at O'Hare, and mail arriving to the Chicago address. Prepares outgoing mail for distribution centers, including preparing boxes, selecting proper method, and preparing shipping labels. Prepares computer reports for mailing to field sales force managers.
Hand folds documents including checks, purchase orders and double page invoices for insertion into envelopes and mailing. Purchases lunchroom supplies. Provides basic fleet maintenance, including fueling and maintaining oil changes for 2 mailroom vans.
Miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned, including moving paper and envelope boxes as part of stock. Operates various Konica Minolta printers. Provides basic copier trouble shooting, data entry of email addresses to allow scanning, removal of paper jams, and replacement of toner cartridges.
Transports business clients in a professional manner, including to and from O'Hare airport and Lawson's McCook, IL distribution center. Delivers mail to each Lawson department, picking up all outgoing mail. Travels between Lawson's Chicago, IL corporate office to the McCook, IL distribution center to deliver & pickup mail.
Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), with six months related mailroom experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills, with the ability to operate the mailroom computer and navigate provider websites. Self-reliant with the ability to work independently and perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Aptitude for operating machines, particularly mailroom machinery, including basic maintenance and repairs.
Ability multi-task and maintain customer focus and project orientation in a fast-paced environment. Problem solving skills with the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions. Previous mailroom experience a plus.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Energetic and reliable person committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
