Position Overview: As a Chef at Cushion Mannor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our residents receive high-quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals every day. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents while adhering to food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Dietary Manager to create weekly menus that consider residents' dietary restrictions, preferences, and nutritional needs.
- Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of dishes from scratch, ensuring that they are visually appealing, flavorful, and meet quality standards.
- Meal Service: Oversee meal service in the dining area, ensuring residents are served promptly and courteously. Accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions.
- Inventory Management: Manage food inventory, order supplies as needed, and keep track of expiration dates to minimize waste.
- Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines. Regularly inspect kitchen equipment for safety and functionality.
- Training and Supervision: Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety practices and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Budget Management: Assist in managing the food budget, keeping costs within budgetary limits while maintaining food quality.
- Special Events: Coordinate and prepare special meals for holidays, birthdays, and other events, ensuring a memorable dining experience for residents and their families.
- Communication: Collaborate with residents, families, and the Dietary Manager to address concerns, gather feedback, and make necessary adjustments to the menu.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a similar setting, such as assisted living, healthcare, or senior living.
- Knowledge of special dietary needs, including modified textures and dietary restrictions.
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Strong culinary skills and creativity in menu planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Culinary arts degree or certification preferred.
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
