Job Responsibilities
2. Assists with collection development and shelving.
3. Registers borrowers for library cards and performs data entry of patron information into computer.
4. Helps patrons locate library materials and provides reference assistance using various print and electronic sources including the Internet.
5. Manages study room reservations.
6. Provides assistance on how to use the library.
7. Assists with tours, regularly recurring programs, and special library activities such as Summer Reading Program and outreach.
8. Prepares monthly calendar of events, booklists and decoration of the branch.
9. Prepares data for periodic reports.
10. Answers incoming calls and emails, and welcomes visitors while assisting at the service desk.
11. Assists in maintaining discipline within the library, opening and closing procedures, and cash handling.
12. Assists library staff as needed and performs other job-related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
2. No previous experience required.
3. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish preferred.
4. Must provide excellent customer service, exercising tact and diplomacy.
5. Job requires a current, Texas Class C driver's license.
6. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
7. Must be able to operate general office equipment (i.e. computer, audio-visual equipment, public access catalog, Internet access computer, cash register, and copy machine).
Physical Requirements
2. Physical effort limited to lifting up to 20-30 pounds.
3. Duties involve sitting, standing and walking.
Additional Information
1. This position has no supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
2. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
3. Scheduled hours may include nights and weekends.
