Technical Services Assistant

Part Time- 22-24 hours a week

Job Summary

The Technical Services Assistant processes library materials, orders and manages library supplies and provides back-up circulation services when needed.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Technical Services Duties:

· Process all books and audiovisual materials:

· Report required statistics.

· Attend workshops to increase understanding of procedures and adapt to changing rules and technologies.

· Perform other cataloging technical services -related tasks as directed by the Technical Services Librarian

2) Physical preparation of all books and audiovisuals

· Attach labels, barcodes, reinforce paperback books, cover book jackets, etc.

· Minor repairs

3) Order office supplies and equipment.

· Maintain files of vendor information

· Identify appropriate and cost-effective sources of supplies

· Prepare purchase requisitions and transmit them to vendors through the Business Office

· Maintain necessary files pertaining to ordering

· Examine materials received for damage and return damaged items

· Verify order fulfillment and contact Business Office to resolve problems

· Verify accuracy of invoices and forward information to the Business Office

· Perform other related tasks as directed by the Technical Services Librarian.

4) Other duties:

· Provide back-up circulation service as needed.

· Prepare monthly statistics as requested for library reports.

· Assist with library inventories.

· Check voice and e-mail at least once a day.

· Advise library managers of any unmet needs or adverse developments which interfere with the LRC’s implementation of stated objectives.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

· Library Technical Assistant certification or equivalent library experience of 2 years or more

· Experience with Microsoft Office365

· Good organizational skills

· Service-oriented attitude and good communication skills.

· Attention to detail

Preferred:

· Ability to work flexibly with Technical Services and Circulation Department.

Job Type: Part-time
