Salary Information Department Summary
The Department of Educational Psychology is one of four departments in the College of Education. The College offers 12 bachelor's degrees, 19 master's, and 15 doctoral concentrations with over 100 faculty that provide the training and field experience needed to teach people how to live more productive lives. The Department of Educational Psychology currently offers a BS degree and two master's degrees in educational psychology and Special Education. Two PhDs are offered, one in Educational Psychology, and one in Special Education. The Educational Psychology PhD program is presently organized around three concentrations: (a) Research Methodology, Measurement, & Statistics, (b) Human Development & Family Science, Gifted and Talented Education, and (d) Learning Sciences. The Special Education PhD program is organized around two concentrations: (e) Developmental Disabilities/Autism and (f) Learning Disabilities/Behavior Disorders. In addition, the Educational Psychology PhD supports concentrations in (g) Psychosocial Aspects of Sport, and (h) Sport Pedagogy and Motor Behavior in the Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
The Department of Educational Psychology invites applications for an appointment as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to begin Fall 2023. The position is for an applicant with broad expertise in human development and family science ( HDFS). This is a non-tenure track, multi-year appointment which is renewed annually pending satisfactory performance during an initial review period, with opportunity for multi-year contracts following that period. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and background. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department and growing the programs in HDFS through teaching and service in the department. Instructional roles may include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses. Traditional, online, and teaching at satellite sites may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in Human Development and Family Science, Developmental Psychology, Family Science, or a closely related field, with broad expertise and the ability to teach across the HDFS area.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a doctorate earned in one of the above areas or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered if the doctorate is successfully defended prior to the start date. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven record of quality college-level teaching, academic service experience, and experience creating online courses. We particularly welcome applicants with the credentials and experience to support our Family Life Education and/or Child Life Specialist courses.
