Summary
Yelp is searching for a Leave of Absence Specialist to join our Global Benefits and Leaves team. This role reports to the Director of Global Benefits and is a key member of the broader Total Rewards team. This individual will be responsible for day to day administrative duties covering all Yelp functions and locations. We are a distributed workforce, so team members can be based anywhere in the U.S.
This individual will work daily with employees, other benefits and leaves team members, third party administrators, Payroll, Accounting, Legal, and other HR teams. This role provides support for Yelp’s daily administration of leaves.

What you'll do:
- Assist with day to day operations of the Leaves team functions and duties.
- Answer employee questions regarding Leave of Absence, disability claims and accommodations.
- Consult with employees on confidential FMLA and ADA issues and facilitate employee FMLA and ADA requests.
- Assist employees and managers with any problems or concerns regarding claims filed with the third party administrator.
- Assist employees and managers on the appropriate processes, legal requirements and policies regarding leaves in all countries where Yelp has employees (US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Belgium).
- Coordinate claims with Workers' Compensation administrator, when needed.
- Update employee records in Workday as appropriate.
- Inform and provide employees with paperwork and deadlines needed to consider requests for a Leave of Absence. Coordinates all aspects of return to work for employees on leave.
- Ensure regular communication with employees starting a leave and scheduled to return from leave to ensure employees and managers are aware of the process and requirements.
- Escalate issues to the proper management resource as appropriate.
- Identify trends and make recommendations for continuous process improvements.
- Review data received from third party administrator regarding disability payments for accuracy and apply any top up payments in accordance with company policies. Partners with payroll to ensure timely payment of disability claims.
- Perform regular audits of leave data in third party administrator system and Workday to ensure accurate and consistent information in both systems.
- Assist in completing leaves reporting.
- Other special projects and duties based on business needs.
What it takes to succeed:
- 2+ years of related experience in FMLA, State Leaves, Disability, ADA and absence management.
- Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS) or Certified Professional Disability Management (CPDM) a plus.
- Workday experience required.
- Experience with Jira or other service management ticketing system a plus.
- Excellent customer service, tracking and follow up skills and ability to show empathy and desire to help employees.
- Excellent written, verbal and listening skills to reflect a friendly, positive disposition. Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills (Vlookup, data manipulation, conditional formatting, pivot tables, etc).
- Excellent self-management, organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail when completing a task while demonstrating a thorough concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small.
- Discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.

- Compensation range for this position is $63,000- $106,000 annually. You may also be offered a bonus and benefits.
