Description and Requirements

Job Title: Total Absence Management Claims Specialist

Job Location: Bloomfield, CT. Virtual Role with In-Person Training. All candidates must be within a commutable distance of our Bloomfield office.

This role will provide exemplary customer service by managing Total Absence claims in a timely and accurate fashion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Virtual roles predominately work from home with periodic visits to assigned GCSO office as needed for team meetings, events, training business continuity, etc.
  • Handle, review, and administer Family & Medical Leave Act standalone (as well as other leave) claims and adhere to federal and state regulatory and/or company plan requirements and established FMLA workflow procedures and evaluate against appropriate leave plans and make initial claim decisions.
  • Complete eligibility decisions during intake call, gather pertinent data, when necessary, from employee or other supporting systems as well as perform leave follow-ups as required, including recertification of health condition, intermittent claim tracking, RTW confirmation, etc.
  • Update systems to accurately reflect leave status and ensure appropriate diary documentation exists.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Must be located within a commutable distance of where the role is posted.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-2 yrs. related experience in FMLA, Disability Leave or Insurance Claims.
  • Demonstrated history of critical thinking involving insurance claims.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Knowledge of system applications related to Disability & Leave Claims.

The wage for applicants for this position is $45,000.00 per year. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation.
