Job Description
The Learning and Development Manager- Operations strategizes, develops, delivers, and drives training across Ascend's cannabis cultivation facilities. This individual has experience in designing learning programs in an agricultural or manufacturing setting from the ground up. This learning professional, will build relationships with Operations Leaders, lead the creation of training programs, assessments, and job aids along with planning of training implementation, managing the evaluation process, and communicating training to the business units and project leads. Strong organizational skills, the ability to be flexible, and a positive attitude are important qualities that you must possess.
Location: Within a commutable distance to either Franklin, NJ or Athol, MA
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs for operations and cultivation staff at various levels across the organization.
- Create and update training curriculum for various roles within the operations department, including cultivation, post-harvest, extraction, packaging, and distribution.
- Provide leadership to Learning and Development Specialist and dotted-line leadership to a network of Training Liaisons across
- Support cannabis cultivation sites in NJ, MA, OH, IL, PA, and MI as well as potential expansion into additional markets.
- Provide and track state and federal regulatory and safety training in partnership according to needs identified by the AWH Compliance Team.
- Revamp orientation programs for new hires, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles. Collaborate with HR to ensure a seamless integration of new employees into the company culture.
- Ensure that training programs align with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by promoting additional training opportunities and resources for operations staff.
- Provide post training support online, in person, and over the phone in a thorough, professional manner with strong attention to internal customer service best practices.
- Contribute to Learning and Development, Human Resources and Operations Teams' and culture positively.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to perform in a team environment, collaborate with others, handle multiple projects, be flexible with change, and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of LMS technology (Paylocity), authoring tools (Articulate), and Microsoft Office. Ability to learn to technologies and platforms quickly.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (preferred)
- 5+ years' experience in corporate training or adult learning (required)
- Experience developing and delivering training in a manufacturing or agricultural setting
- Demonstrated understanding of leadership training and Development theories
- Six Sigma/Lean experience preferred
- Able to build and manage strong working relationships, manage process, facilitate change, and effectively communicate organizational goals
- Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
- Positive "can-do" attitude
- Must be 21 years of age or older
TRAVEL
- This position travels up to 50% - 75% of the time.
