This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). The MNIT MDH team provides services for over 250+ applications and delivers the information technology to drive one of the leading public health systems in the nation. You will support an agency that works to protect, maintain, and improve the health of all Minnesotans.
Job Summary
A great opportunity for an experienced developer to begin the transition to the world of application architecture. As a Lead Developer/Architect, you will support the central architecture unit for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). You will work to design, integrate, and implement new systems as well as modernize legacy systems within the department. You will have the opportunity to influence not only the architecture direction for MDH but more importantly mentor and grow future developers while making your vision come to fruition!!!
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependenciesin St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume.
This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience designing and implementing systems.
Experience must include:
  • Familiarity with Amazon Wed Services (AWS).
  • Experience with Javascript frameworks, such as Vue.js or React.
  • Familiar with and experience working with Java and associated frameworks, such as Spring and/or Hibernate.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master's degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant experience writing automated tests.
  • Can do attitude exhibited by successful completion of projects and assignments.
  • Demonstrable mentoring or teaching experience.
