If you are an IT professional who enjoys critical thinking, solving difficult problems, and is looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! This is a hybrid work opportunity based in our Eden Prairie, Minnesota location. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the future of Emerson’s customer facing digital engineering applications. You will use your years of technical expertise and a solid understanding of the cloud native software domain to help us build industry leading digital engineering software applications.

As a Lead Software Developer, You will:

  • Design, develop and implement new applications and improvements to existing ones using JavaScript, Node.js, React, PowerBI, Cosmos DB, and other relevant technologies.
  • Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of features, projects, modules, and support services that you and your team will deliver in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, including mentoring junior engineers to propagate good design principles and development practices.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the overall technical direction of the digital applications, advocating for best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Optimize software performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks via monitoring, logging, and metrics to enhance the user experience.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other development teams, non-technical partners, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and deployment of client-side applications, automating and enhancing build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Participate in code and design reviews to ensure high quality code and adherence to coding standards.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on development of large-scale cloud native web applications.
  • High proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, React, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, PowerBI, Cosmos DB or similar frameworks and libraries.
  • Experience in designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, IT or a related engineering or technical degree preferred.
  • Experience in building responsive and mobile-friendly user interfaces.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, possessing the ability to work independently or collaboratively to analyze and address complex technical challenges.
  • Experience in scaling software teams and ability to mentor team members.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and those in non-technical roles.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, version control systems, agile methodologies, continuous integration, continuous delivery, etc.
  • Experience with leading process improvement initiatives
