Work Arrangement: Hybrid Weekly out of New York

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Lead Business Development Analyst reports to the Director, Business Development and provides project management and contract negotiation support for infrastructure access and corporate planning department initiatives. Responsibilities include research, project and program management, reporting and the development of briefing materials for corporate planning, relationship management and contract negotiation and administration functions with commuter, state and local entities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Project and program management of related activities such as capital project prioritization, contract negotiation and support and federal grant application coordination
  • Operational and financial analysis, including development and presentation of analyses and recommendations to senior departmental and corporate management
  • Support Director – Business Development and account-specific business leads in contract management, reporting, and Business Development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, transportation required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability in customer service and familiarity with contract negotiations and contract administration
  • Experience in PC based applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other financial planning/reporting systems
  • Communication and presentation skills and experience communicating complex issues to senior level officers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff and decision-makers at all levels while successfully challenging conventional practices and incorporating new approaches to business
  • Superior quantitative and analytical skills including use of computer-based database spreadsheets and presentation programs

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in business, transportation or related field with at least 5 years in the transportation industry or a mix of relevant experience and education
  • 6-9 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Understanding of Amtrak operations and infrastructure
  • Experience in working with governmental agencies or commuter agencies
  • Experience in developing briefing materials under minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Travel requirements up to 25%
  • Position located in New York, NY
  • Constantly works in fast-paced, time sensitive environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimum direct supervision

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

 

The salary/hourly range is $94,300 - $122,256. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
