Performs technical work assisting with the ongoing Landscape Program administration, coordination and planning needs. The Landscape Review and Permit Coordinator ensures all applications including landscape plans and tree impact permits are in compliance with the City's Tree Protection and Zoning Ordinance. Employee must exercise reasonable initiative and independent judgment in the performance of duties with minimal supervision. The position requires strong organizational skills, along with diplomacy and professionalism in working effectively with the public, outside agencies, and internal City personnel. Must have a "can-do" approach, and the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day monitoring of landscape projects on public and private property.
Monitors all incoming e-permit documents. Prepares e-permit files for REVIEW AND submittal.
Sufficiency review of landscape plan and tree impact permit submittals for completeness, accuracy and compliance with the Land Development Regulations, Tree Protection and Zoning Ordinance.
Verifies workers compensation and liability insurance as required. Confirms contractor registrations, property ownership, corporate and fictitious name status, State/County licensure and registrations as necessary.
Assures that Departmental policies and procedures are followed in the receipt, routing and processing of e-permit applications. Organizes e-permits based on plan review approval or failure.
Ensures that all available e-permits are in the appropriate status and step in the approval process.
Coordinate projects with internal staff, contractors and field inspectors.
Reviews and assigns inspections requests when needed. Verifies that all required inspections have been completed, fees have been paid, and completion of interdepartmental tasks prior to the issuance of the approved plan or permit. Conducts site visits as needed for approval of permit applications. Processes plan revisions after e-permits have been issued.
Assist with complaints and violations regarding illegal tree removals, tree abuse and non-compliance with the Tree Protection and Zoning Ordinance.
Creates invoices and assists in the billing and payment tracking of all e-permit applications.
Distributes work assignments of plans reviewers. Handles correspondence between the customers and plan reviewers. Assigns corrections of e-permits to appropriate staff. Reviews and assigns inspections requests when needed.
Conduct research and prepare documentation for meetings; interpret and explain municipal codes and ordinances to members of the public, contractors, business owners, and other interested groups in the field.
Serve as a resource to other City departments, divisions, the general public, and outside agencies regarding tree impact permits, landscape permits and the Tree Protection and Zoning Ordinance.
Promotes and represents the City to the public in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner. Provides information via telephone, email and in direct contact with the public.
Assists customers with inquiries in a prompt, friendly and reliable manner.

Ability to comprehend and explain zoning and subdivision principles, practices, regulations, codes, and ordinances in clear terms to the general public. Ability to read and interpret minor building plans, zoning and land use maps.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, architecture, urban planning or closely related field. Minimum of four (4) years professional experience for a state, county, local government planning agency or professional office issuing permits or providing customer service. A combination of related training, certifications, education and experience may be considered. SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat,) skills are desired. Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are a plus.
Licenses & Certificates:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license throughout employment.
Landscape Inspector certification from Florida Landscape Inspectors Association (LIAF) must be obtained within one (1) year of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Closed Fridays.Employment Type: Full-time
