Laboratory Operations Unit Manager -- Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc.  -  Erwin, TN

Summary Description of Job:

Manage the Laboratory Operations Section and ensure that laboratory analytical/material control operations are performed in a cost-effective manner.  Establish priorities in accordance with regulatory, contract, and NFS requirements.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

1.  Direct the work of personnel assigned to this section to accomplish the objectives of the annual operating plan and the requirements of material control.

2.  Provide recommendations and justification for the laboratory capital budgets.

3.  Plan hourly staffing and analytical processing to optimize utilization of equipment and personnel in the most productive and cost-effective manner for Laboratory Operations.

4.  Review and recommend approval of proposals for operation improvements prepared by subordinates.

5.  Review and establish priorities for non-routine problems requiring technical or compliance section support that are identified by subordinates.

6.  Review and approve procedures prepared by subordinates and ensure all regulatory and customer contract requirements are met.

7.  Review and evaluate technical requirements of customer inquiries and recommend staffing required to meet the modifications.

8.  Assure personnel are qualified to perform required analysis and comply with requirements to maintain qualifications.

9.  Develop and administer programs to meet criteria associated with material control and accountability.

Education Requirements of Job:

B. S. degree -- Chemistry or similar technical degree

Experience Requirements of Job (Beyond educational or equivalent requirements):

Over ten years' experience.  

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000.00 and $165,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
