Job Summary: The Junior Systems Administrator’s role is to assist in the stable operation of the in-house and cloud-based systems. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing end-user hardware and software. The Junior Systems Administrator will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage policies and procedures for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery
- Interact with vendors and contractors
- Administer end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices
- Manage Enterprise Software-as-a-Service technologies
- Configure Monitoring and Alerting
- Manage and document asset inventory
- Perform scans, risk assessments and audits
- Monitor and assess network performance and provide network performance
- statistics and reports
- Manage updates to BIOS and firmware, operating systems, and applications
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Maintain backup and recovery systems
- Understanding of basic scripting to manage infrastructure
- Perform other duties as requested by manager
Position Requirements:
- Technical knowledge of network, desktop, and server operating systems
- Technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including LDAP, DHCP, DNS, HTTPS, TLS, and SMTP
- Experience with database systems
- Familiarity with ticketing systems
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity with the organization’s goals and objectives
- Ability to conduct research and present ideas
- Highly diligent and self-motivated
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Technology Knowledge:
- PRTG, Pingdom, PagerDuty, Azure AD, Entra, Exchange, OneDrive, in-house, Active Directory, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, BASH, VMWare, Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, VMware vSphere, Linux, Microsoft Office365, Microsoft Internet Information Services, Atlassian Confluence, WordPress, Microsoft SQL Server 2019, MySQL
Work Conditions:
- 40 hours per week, this position may require additional time to support
- large projects or year-end related work
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
- Must be flexible as workloads and priorities change periodically
- Ability to work independently and with others (including employees from various departments)
