Responsibilities
Our client is looking for a Junior System Administrator with a focus in Linux & Building/Patching to join their team! The selected candidate can work out of the Reston, Anacostia, or College Park office.
- Perform systems administration of cyber tools sets and server systems connected to networks across multiple classification domains
- Provide support to developmental and operational systems, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all client, server, storage, and network devices
- Maintain integrity and security of cross domain system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems
- Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of issues
- Configure and manage Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems and install and load operating system and application software
- Learn how to help clients overcome challenges through monitoring and performance management
- Analyze problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network
- Combine technical knowledge and communication skills to turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning
- Work individually and as team participant and obtain guidance and direction from more senior level technicians, specialists, or managers
Requirements
- A HS diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience in a professional work environment is required, or an Associate’s degree and 2+ years of experience in a professional work environment, or a Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of experience in a professional work environment is required
- Experience with operating and maintaining Microsoft Windows and Linux servers, including operating systems
- Experience with installing and configuring devices, applications, and security tools
Preferred Requirements
- Experience as a network administrator or systems engineer
- Experience scripting in PowerShell or BASH command line interfaces
- Experience in using Active Directory to manage Windows policies
- Knowledge of different layers of the technology stack, including network, application frameworks, database systems, and vendor solutions
Education/Certification Requirements
- A HS diploma or GED and 6 years of experience with supporting IT projects and activities, or an Associate’s degree and 4 years of experience with supporting IT projects and activities, or a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience with supporting IT projects and activities, or a Master’s degree and 1 year of experience with supporting IT projects and activities is required for this position
- A DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II Certification is required
- Current acceptable Level II Certifications are:
- Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or CND
- Current acceptable Level II Certifications are:
- Ability to obtain a DoD 8570.01-M Cyber Security Service Provider - Infrastructure Support Certification within 30 days of hire is required
- Current acceptable Certifications are:
- CEH, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud+, or CND
- Current acceptable Certifications are:
Clearance Requirements
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an active TS/SCI clearance is required with the ability to obtain a CI Poly. Please be aware that onboarding can take 4-6 weeks for this position.
