Responsibilities
We are searching for a talented Junior Software Engineer - Backend Developer to become part of Peraton's Agile Cybersecurity Technical Solutions organization.
Location: Arlington, Virginia. Hybrid role. Need to be able to come on-site as needed.

• This position is contingent upon contract award.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend database systems that meet the performance, scalability, and security requirements of our applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Software Engineers, data scientists, and product managers, to understand database requirements and implement effective solutions.
• Design and architect schemas using Neo4j.
• Optimize and tune database queries to enhance overall system performance.
• Ensure data integrity and implement robust backup and recovery strategies.
• Identify and troubleshoot database-related issues, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
• Stay updated on the latest industry trends and emerging technologies related to database management systems.

Qualifications
Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience (or 0-2 years with a Master's degree) as a Backend Database Software Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in database design, optimization, and administration.
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Must have hands-on experience using Neo4j.
• Proficient in Java and Python for database and server-related development tasks.
• Solid understanding of database architecture, indexing, and data normalization.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database services, like AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship and must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated DHS background investigation (EOD) for continued employment.
• Ability to obtain a Top-Secret security clearance.

Desired:

• Highly self-motivated and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, Ansible
• Has SAFe 6.0 for Teams (SP) or SAFe 5.1 or 6.0 DevOps (SDP) certification

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
