- TITLE: Machine Technician 1 (Non-Exempt) 2nd Shift
- DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
- REPORTS TO: Team Leader and Production Manager
- The Machine Technician 1 is responsible for operating a given number of plastic blow molding machines (including in-line equipment) and makes necessary adjustments or minor repairs to ensure production containers are made safe, efficient and high-quality manner.
- This position will work closely at time with the Process Tech or Maintenance Tech.
- Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP, HACCP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.

- Participates in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned
- Operates a group of plastic blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment producing a container in a safe and high-quality method.
- Performs and/or assists in mold, and inset changes on the line.
- Performs when needed with the Process Technician basic processing of blow molding machines to improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap.
- Performs tasks and responsibilities of any Utility position (i.e. General Operator) during slow periods and/or as needed.
- Makes frequent on time quality checks on products being produced from established quality standards.
- Assists other process technician and maintenance technician personnel on mechanical repairs.
- Performs assigned preventative maintenance work.
- Maintains work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
- Communicates with the Production Manager and Team Leader to coordinate production line support staff in accomplishing the lines’ objectives.
- Performs minor troubleshooting and programming on the line. Notify team leader and production manager and process tech or maintenance tech of any major problems or questions.
- Assists in the training of new Operators.
- Maintains consistent manufacturing production, including visual inspection of finished goods
- Uses grinding machine to process any scrap/waste product
- Maintains accurate machine operating records, including daily and weekly logs
- Practices Lock Out / Tag Out safety procedures
- Acts as a backup for Quality (product quality inspections and results logging)
- Helps with small mechanical issues on machinery
- Fills hopper/feeder bins with resin
- This position must be available for any mandatory overtime including weekends
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED;
- basic Math aptitude; skills, mechanically incline;
- Must be able to safely handle required lifting weight up to 50 pounds.
- The position requires standing, frequent bending, and twisting movements for the duration of the shift.
- A supervisory experience will be an advantage.
- A minimum of 2-3 years in manufacturing required and 1-2 years machine operating experience.
- Operators are required to interact with managers, employees, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
- Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
