SOMACIS Inc. is a well-established (over 45 years in business) advanced technology, high reliability Printed Circuit Board manufacturer, located in Poway, California. We have immediate openings for successful team-oriented Jr Engineers to work in multiple departments.
Position Description:
This position is responsible for learning and mastering the processes for the assigned manufacturing department in order to generate/update processes for manufacturing Printed Circuit Boards. Jr Engineers will be responsible for reviewing customer supplied data including specifications, drawings, prints, electronic data, purchase orders, plus all applicable ECN’s, DFM, Process Specifications, and Checklists, to ensure the accurate routing and successful manufacture of advanced technology Printed Circuit Boards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Review all customer specifications, prints, purchase orders and applicable ECN, DFM, Process Specifications, and Checklists
- Complete training and certification to operate production machinery in assigned area, shadow Sr. Engineers and Operators to understand current processes, and become a Subject Matter Expert
- Accurately document all process steps used in manufacturing
- Responsible for creating engineering documentation and tooling instructions that will meet customer design specifications
- Work closely with Production Team to understand process capabilities for all primary areas in manufacturing
- Responsible for creating and updating lay-ups for all orders, master travelers & engineering sheets.
- Will create and maintain all entries pertaining to boards on the information system; board maintenance, Bill of Materials (BOM), route detail, engineering status, master board information
- Responsible for verifying, implementing, and communicating external and internal ECN's
- Will be responsible to ensure the ECN is incorporated and changes to the travelers are made if a decision is made to change
- Work closely with vendors to learn how to operate machinery, troubleshooting, and improve process efficiency

What You'll Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 1-2 years of working experience OR school projects that focused on the comprehensive application of your engineering discipline(s)
- Strong math and reading competence
- Intermediate level with spreadsheet and word processing
- Ability to solve multiple complex problems in an environment with a variety of technical and organizational constraints
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- High degree of accuracy in work output
- Ability to read and understand customer specification, prints and other related documents
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and initiative
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and fast paced quick turn environment
- Read and understand procedures, instructions and policies clearly
- Talking and communicating with people to convey and exchange information and findings in an efficient and professional manner
- Ability to write reports and present to management team

Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, simple grasping of paperwork and mouse, simple crimping of paperwork, fine hand manipulation to use keypad, 10-key pad and mouse, tools or controls and talk or hear
- We require that the employee be physically present at the work site to effectively perform this job
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is frequently required to stand or sit for long periods of time throughout the work day
- Ability to move around the facility and production floor
- Physical endurance to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Visual attention, near Acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus
