Job Description
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining infrastructure, hardware, and software components to ensure the smooth operation of computer systems. Also includes installing and configuring computer hardware and being the primary point of contact for ITS support.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain, configure, and ensure reliable operation of computer systems, servers, network services, and virtualization.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Maintain inventory records for MSI’s IT hardware and software.
- Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
- Ensure capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
- Administer MSI’s cell phone plan and printer network.
- Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.).
- Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance.
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
- Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
- Manage IT projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications, Education, Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience as an IT Systems Administrator or equivalent position.
- Certifications (such as CompTIA Server+ or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or equivalent) are preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with Windows Server Environment including but not limited to Windows Server 2012 R2 and newer.
- Broadband internet connection phone system.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
- In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
- Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and co-workers.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Must have effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a highly dynamic environment.
