It Support Specialist (On-Site)

Job Title: IT Support Specialist: 

Compensation: $20-$25 / hour

Type: Full-Time, on-site in Bethesda, MD 

Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and highly motivated IT Support Specialist with expertise in both Windows and Mac operating systems to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and support to our employees, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our IT systems and equipment. This role will involve troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring systems, and assisting with IT-related projects.

Responsibilities:

1. End User Support:

   • Provide first-level technical support to employees via phone, email, or in-person.
   • Resolve hardware and software issues on both Windows and Mac platforms.
   • Assist with desktop, laptop, and mobile device setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.

2. System Administration:

   • Administer and maintain Windows and Mac workstations, ensuring they are up to date and secure.
   • Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory and macOS Server environments.
   • Perform routine system maintenance, including software updates, patch management, and antivirus scans.

3. Hardware Support:

   • Diagnose and repair hardware problems with desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
   • Coordinate hardware repairs and warranty claims with vendors when necessary.
   • Assist in the procurement and setup of new hardware and equipment.

4. Software Support:

   • Install, configure, and troubleshoot software applications on Windows and Mac systems.
   • Assist users with software-related issues, including license management and compatibility problems.

5. Network Support:

   • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, both wired and wireless.
   • Assist in the setup and maintenance of network printers and scanners.
   • Support remote access solutions for employees working off-site.

6. Documentation and Training:

   • Create and update technical documentation, including user guides and knowledge base articles.
   • Conduct training sessions to educate employees on IT best practices and software usage.

7. IT Projects:

   • Collaborate with the IT team on various projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
   • Participate in planning and executing IT infrastructure improvements.

8. Security and Compliance:

   • Enforce IT security policies and procedures, including data backup and recovery.
   • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and IT regulations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience providing technical support for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Active Directory, macOS Server, and group policy management.
• Familiarity with network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Knowledge of software deployment and endpoint security best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional, Apple Certified Support Professional) a plus.
