The Town of Falmouth IT Department has recently been restructured, and we are currently recruiting team-oriented IT professionals for three full-time positions ranging from Tier 1 (entry)-level to Tier 3-level. The IT Support Specialist II is Tier 2 level position with opportunities for professional development and advancement within the department. This position works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with occasional opportunities for overtime to assist with off-hour scheduled maintenance and emergencies.
Duties include but are not limited to supporting Town end user help desk tickets as a level two escalation path; triaging, diagnosing, and resolving problems regarding software, hardware, VPN, multi-factor identification, wi-fi networks, broadband services, and infrastructure; communicating solutions to end users; correcting application issues; solving network and security problems; and identifying common PC software and hardware problems.
The IT Support Specialist II also performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning and installation of new and existing personal devices and workstations and provides mobile device management support for end user laptops, tablets, and smartphones. This position also ensures system security and network support, manages and troubleshoots the Card Access Control System, trains end users in the use of equipment and software, provides website support, and performs other duties in support of IT department goals. This position travels to offsite Town departments to perform these functions as required.
The ideal candidate can work independently but enjoys being part of a team and contributing to the goals of the IT department. The successful applicant has excellent customer service skills and is a patient problem solver with strong IT knowledge, skills, and abilities and an interest in continuing professional development.
Minimum requirements include an associate degree in computer science or related field, bachelor’s degree preferred, and three to five years or more of responsible experience in an information technology environment with project management experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
Starting Wage: Step 1 ($37.13/hour) - Step 3 ($39.70/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience, with room to grow along the 10-step pay scale. Comprehensive benefits.
