Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The IT Support Specialist provides Administrative Computing support by responding to help desk tickets and/or Supervisor direction for computer break/fix, software troubleshooting, software installation assistance, imaging, and inventory. Provide Classroom Computing support by responding to Help Desk tickets and/or Supervisor direction for classroom computer maintenance, break/fix, moves/adds/changes, imaging, Faculty guidance in technology use, Audio Visual system troubleshooting/installation/support and device inventory. Provide Network Services support by responding to Supervisor direction/NES Manager to assist in Network closet documentation/clean up, wire management, Network device installation, network port mapping, on-site network device troubleshooting and inventory. Assist in providing Help Desk Tier I phone, email and chat support as needed. Duties will include Student, Faculty and Staff password changes, remote device troubleshooting, remote installation of software and escalation of tickets to Tier II support. Update SmartTools help desk application tickets. Provide on-site and remote Event Support by responding to Supervisor direction and Help Desk tickets to configure, install, manage, troubleshoot, stream, record and manage audio/video during college sponsored events.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of troubleshooting methods and procedures, equipment, and component testing, as well as the use of a variety of types of hardware and software diagnostic tools. Demonstrated ability with installing, configuring, using and supporting current versions of Microsoft Windows 10 and current Microsoft products. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and provide efficient and effective customer service through verbal and/or written communication and to work within a diverse group of individuals. Working knowledge of the installation, repair, upgrade, and general maintenance of computer hardware. Demonstrated experience supporting network infrastructure, TCP/IP configuration, wireless network configuration and desktop peripherals. Working knowledge of audio-visual systems and support. Demonstrated physical ability to be able to climb ladders and routinely lift items within the range of 50 lbs.
