Job description

Provide technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software or network devices in client server environment. Performs workstation operating system and/or software upgrades and responds to trouble tickets in support of multiple County systems and over 500 employees. Strong project management, communication and prioritization skills required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technologies provides technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software or network devices. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problems, and determines and implements solutions. Performs desktop, VOIP and mobile device hardware and software installation and support. Performs workstation operating system and/or software upgrades, responds to trouble tickets, helps ensure system security, and restores files as needed. Provides user training, prepares system documentation, and provides hardware and software support to department users. May work under the technical direction of the Enterprise Network Administrator, Windows Systems Administrator or Enterprise Systems Specialist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associates Degree in computer science or related field.

Experience: Two to three years’ experience in computer science in a client server network environment.

Other Requirements: Valid Michigan Drivers License. Microsoft MCSA Windows 10 certification and/or CompTIA A+ certification desired. Successful completion of a background check as required to support users of criminal justice related information systems.

Relevant Skills/Specialized Equipment Knowledge:

  • Basic office equipment such as telephone, photocopier, Fax, etc.
  • Computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, database entry and maintenance, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Ability to use cable testers.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to use verbal and written communications to resolve problems, complete project related tasks and interface with county customers.
  • Ability to clearly document technical configurations and summarize technical information.
  • Ability to identify problems, establish facts, correlate data, evaluate technical risk, and develop logical plans of action.
  • Ability to identify issues requiring escalation.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Paid Holidays upon hire! This is a non-exempt/overtime eligible bargaining unit position with AFSCME Pay Grade K, offering excellent benefits, including investment plan options, PTO accrual and paid holidays upon hire! All other benefits including use of accrued PTO and insurance (medical/prescription/dental/vision/life and disability insurance) effective following 90 calendar days of employment and successfully passing the probationary period.
