The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations is seeking a conscientious applicant who can improve collaboration and execute IT service delivery to various programs that supports CDCR mission. As an Information Technology Specialist I (IT Spec. I), you will become an integral part of the HQ IT team.
Under direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) is a member of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of technical analysts. The position performs independently, with minimum supervision, and is responsible for advanced personal computer (PC) support and network connectivity. The position leads technical staff that provides first line support for personal computer workstation installation, problem diagnostics and resolution, training and customer support. Duties extend to provide support for planning, acquiring, researching and evaluating new technology and products to be used within the current technical environment.The position establishes and maintains constructive professional relationships with the bureau's PC customers and must effectively communicate technical information with them, including those customers considered to be non-technical.
This position is located in Sacramento County in Sacramento.
Most positions at CDCR Enterprise Information Services are eligible for telework. This position requires local in-person duties to be performed although some telework may be available.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from DoNotReply@cdcr.ns2cloud.com or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

Working Conditions
EIS HQ Support is located in the Downtown Sacramento area in the central business district of the city of Sacramento. Downtown is one of the busiest and liveliest areas in the city, crowded with both locals and visitors. This area of the city is close to parks William Land and Freemont, museums California Museum, California State Rail Road and Sutter's Fort and plenty of places to shop, coffee shops and restaurants: Bernardo's, Shoki Ramen House, Burgers and Brew, and Iron Horse Tavern. Also close to public transportation the16th street light rail.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
