PURPOSE
The IT Administrator is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the support, maintenance, and development of the University's IT infrastructure.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The IT Administrator is an exempt role that will report to the CFO, with oversight from the IT Committee This position will carry out the IT Plan developed by LPU, oversee and conduct the day-to-day administration of IT functions for the University including but not limited to the provision of user support, assuring reliable operation of computer systems, assuring network/data security, planning IT enhancements , managing projects and budgets, coordinating projects with third-party vendors, keeping abreast of developments pertinent to the University's IT resources and ensuring the effectiveness of and compliance with IT policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conducts troubleshooting and identifies hardware and software problems promptly.
- Maintains a high level of network security by implementing security best practices.
- Installs, monitors, maintains, supports, updates/upgrades, and optimizes moderate to complex network hardware, software, systems, website, and communication links for the University in accordance with the IT Plan.
- Implements and maintains bridges, routers, gateways, remote access servers, domain service, security firewalls, application and device servers and Internet or intranet devices and connections.
- Coordinates successful resolution of emergency service and IT projects with third-party vendors.
- Creates and maintains documentation related to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations. Repairs and/or recovers systems.
- Assists with consulting and analysis of end-user needs to determine appropriate network hardware and software.
- Recommends, maintains, and implements policies, procedures, and associated training plans.
- Oversees the IT Department Budget and makes annual recommendations for IT enhancements.
- Supervises departmental student employees, or contract labor supporting the University's IT needs.
- Responsible for network uptime which may include after hours work, or occasional evening or weekend work
- Model caring relationships with staff, faculty and students through personal interaction and as an effective role model of Christian life.
- Actively participates in and is a member of the IT Committee
- Travels in accordance with job requirements (i.e., conferences, etc.)
- Performs other IT related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in related field to IT. Appropriate education and work experience may be substituted year-for-year for a degree.
- 2-5 years of experience providing tech support for information technology systems in a business environment including desktop support, network administration (LAN & WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless network).
- Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills, and be able to work well with a wide variety of employees possessing differing levels of technical skills and knowledge.
- Must possess solid problem-solving skills and be able to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Must be able to learn a wide variety of technology systems quickly.
- Demonstrated knowledge of virus removal and network security.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office. Office 365 experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of operating systems, applications, hardware, and peripherals.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able and willing to work nights, weekends, and after hours as needed.
- Must be able to sign the University's Statement of Faith.
