Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Investment Accountant to join our dynamic team. As an Investment Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our investment portfolio within the insurance industry. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting records, financial reporting, and analysis related to our investment activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate accounting records for investment transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and portfolio performance metrics.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes related to investment accounting, ensuring adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses to support investment decision-making and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess investment performance, evaluate financial metrics, and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Assist in the preparation of investment-related budgets, forecasts, and projections to support strategic planning initiatives.
- Conduct reconciliations of investment accounts, including cash, securities, and other financial instruments.
- Monitor compliance with investment guidelines, policies, and regulations, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues.
- Support external audits and regulatory examinations by providing documentation and explanations related to investment accounting matters.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory developments, and accounting standards relevant to investment accounting practices.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned, contributing to the continuous improvement of investment accounting processes and systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CFA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment accounting, preferably within the financial services or insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting requirements, and investment accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial modeling tools; experience with investment management systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
