We are seeking a qualified and experienced Interpreter & Translation Specialist to join our team in Romeoville. This vital role involves facilitating effective communication between English and Spanish-speaking employees, translating a variety of written documents, and ensuring seamless understanding across all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in new hire onboarding, technical training, safety communication, and bridging language gaps to foster a cohesive and inclusive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Language Facilitation:
   • Act as a bridge between English and Spanish-speaking employees, facilitating clear and accurate communication.
   • Assist in new hire onboarding, ensuring comprehensive understanding of company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
2. Technical Training Support:
   • Provide interpretation services during technical training sessions to enhance comprehension for non-English speakers.
   • Collaborate with trainers and supervisors to ensure effective delivery of technical information to all employees.
3. Employee Related Communication:
   • Translate and communicate safety protocols and procedures to guarantee a safe working environment for all employees.
   • Assist in the creation of bilingual materials and documentation across all elements of an employee lifecycle to include onboarding, training, performance, corrective action, etc.
4. Communication Assistance for Supervisors:
   • Aid supervisors in connecting with their workforce by facilitating effective communication in both English and Spanish.
   • Offer language support during team meetings, performance evaluations, and one-on-one discussions.
5. Identifying Communication Gaps:
   • Proactively identify gaps in written communication that may hinder understanding for non-English speaking employees.
   • Collaborate with HR and other relevant departments to address and rectify communication challenges.
6. Confidentiality:
   • Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
   • Uphold professional ethics and integrity in all aspects of communication and information sharing.

1. Interpersonal Skills:
   • Demonstrate approachability and relatability, fostering positive relationships with both management and hourly production employees.
   • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive work environment through effective cross-cultural communication.
2. Multilingual Support:
   • While proficiency in English and Spanish is essential, proficiency in additional languages is a significant asset.
   • Provide assistance in translation and interpretation for other languages as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as an interpreter in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Familiarity with technical terminology related to the plant environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in interpretation or translation.
• Additional language proficiency beyond English and Spanish.
