Position Summary: The Business & Legal Affairs team of Participant is seeking a Summer Intern to work with the team as they support the narrative, documentary, and campaigns and engagement groups in connection with the development, co-financing, production and distribution of Participant's films, television series, and social impact campaigns. This position will support the overall vision, mission and mandates for the company.
Founded in 2004 by Jeff Skoll, Participant's content combines the power of a good story well told with real world impact and awareness around today's most vital issues. Through its worldwide network of traditional and digital distribution, aligned with partnerships with key non-profit and NGO organizations, Participant speaks directly to the rise of today's "conscious consumer," representing the well over 2 billion consumers compelled to make meaningful content a priority focus. Participant's more than 100 films have collectively earned 86 Academy Award nominations and 21 wins, including Best Picture for Spotlight and Green Book ; Best Documentary Feature for American Factory, CITIZENFOUR, The Cove and An Inconvenient Truth ; and Best Foreign Language Film for Roma and A Fantastic Woman .
Responsibilities:
- Review and summarize material deal terms of agreements, including writer, director, producer and rights agreements.
- Draft and revise agreements based on provided deal terms and attorney's notes.
- Create and maintain development and production tracking databases.
- Review picture related marketing materials for clearance, talent and credit issues.
- Receive delivery elements from producers, review documentation, and coordinate outgoing delivery to distributors.
- Assist attorneys with any special projects, including chain-of-title reviews and coordination with marketing on publicity and talent matters.
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.
