Internal Communications Manager - Remote

Overview
OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Works closely with the Director, Internal Communications to support development and implementation of a variety of employee communications strategies and tactics to engage, align, inform and inspire a diverse workforce with our organization's purpose, business strategy, culture, and key initiatives. Helps support communications for complex, high-impact initiatives including all HR programs (benefits, compensation, etc.), executive communications, company intranet, company news and feature stories, employee recognition, events and more. Must be passionate about the employee experience and how Internal Communications is an integral part of the overall strategy grow and sustain positive engagement, morale, productivity and satisfaction. Works collaboratively as part of the Marketing Communications team in conjunction with Human Resources, Information Technology, Advancement and other functional areas, including Service Lines that provide supports for thousands of individuals with disabilities and their families.
Though this position is remote, candidate must live in Southern California due to in person meetings and occasional travel to ESSC offices.
Starting Pay Range: $74k - $92k
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supports Director in development and implementation of comprehensive Internal Communications efforts with specific strategies and action plans to effectively communicate with and influence internal stakeholders via company intranet, executive emails, videos and more.
• Creates regular employee communications for digital distribution using internal email tools, company intranet and digital screens.
• Maintains and promotes the use of company intranet to ensure it is a valuable tool for associates and promotes organizational achievements.
• Supports measurement strategy rooted in best practices to measure effectiveness of communications, and make and implement recommendations as appropriate.
• Brings creativity to existing channels and develops innovative new ways to connect, inform, recognize and motivate employees.
• Provides support for running online meetings on Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
• Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with key internal stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, PR or related field

EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years of demonstrated Internal Communications experience with a company or non-profit agency

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication skills.
• Ability to distill complex information into easily understandable communications for employees.
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization and handle sensitive topics with discretion.
• Self-starter who takes initiative and completes projects on time.
• Strong project management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. and OneDrive a plus.
• Proficient in CMS for intranet content analytics, maintenance and development.
• Social media experience a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure, short turnaround times.
• Attention to detail and an ability to take and implement direction, feedback, and delivery of assets.
• Expertise in crafting content that promotes inclusivity and accessibility.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing timelines and deliverables.
• Social media knowledge.
• Video scripting skills a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Ability to work independently and under close direction.
• Ability to drive throughout Southern California.
• Proactive thinker with ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
